Mothers Day

Mothers Day.

so many things go through the mind at Mothers Day......

greatest joys

deepest hurts

 proudest moments

maternal bonds

Wednesday evening we took a look at the Book of Ruth.  Naomi, Ruth's mother-in-law had to face some very tough situations. Her husband and sons died, one of her daughter-in-laws returned to her former gods.....  Coming back into Bethlehem Judah, the people couldn't even recognize her.  Life had been harsh and hard.

Many times, I think we feel like Naomi.  Life just hurts so much and we are no longer the carefree youth we once were.  We want to sit down and sulk in our hardships.

But listen,  He was not finished with Naomi, and He isn't finished with you.

Everyday is a chance to be a difference maker for someone.  Someone to nurture,

Someone to encourage, someone listen, someone to be there.

Mothers Day is a great reminder of the responsibilities we have as Mothers.

Not just for your children, but to nurture those around us.

14 And the women said unto Naomi, Blessed be the LORD, which hath not left thee this day without a kinsman, that his name may be famous in Israel.

15 And he shall be unto thee a restorer of thy life, and a nourisher of thine old age: for thy daughter in law, which loveth thee, which is better to thee than seven sons, hath born him.

you've got this,

love Jackie

Mothers Day

Mothers Day Mothers day, just the mention of it makes us reflect on and reassess our lives.   So what does a real life, good Mother look like. I believe God's vision for Mothers is to love....  Agape Love.  Life giving love that is born from a heart that gives.  She puts her children and others at a high priority.  It doesn't mean she's perfect.  If that were the criteria there would be no examples.  Some people were given  Mothers who had or have this kind of love.  A Mother who waits until everyone else has a full plate before she eats, a Mother who does everything she knows to do to bring us a good life.  As I reflect,  my Mother was far from perfect.....as a matter of fact, I didn't really feel love from her until after my Father died and our first son was born.  But listen, I also realize she gav

Let's talk about adoption

Adoption is the method God chose to bring us (strangers) into His family as His own.... When we entered into the adoption process it was a complete mystery to me.  Would I be able to take this baby and love him as my own?  When a woman births her own child, most of the time, she also gives birth to a new deeper love within herself to nurture the baby.  But, how would I "feel" about someone else's child?  God, through many trials and tears brought Isaac into my life at a moment of great transition.  He had been working on me!  Reshaping me!  Most of the time when we view ourselves, we see a pretty okay human being.   Giving ourselves a whole lot of our attention. God had to bring me to a place of seeing the deep needs of those around me and off my own perceived need.  When Isaac was born, my husband was on a mission trip.  We had not been in Michigan very long, so I didn't know Detroit well at all.  God had taught me enough about the roads system that I

together forever.....remember love

There is an unwritten rule in our family that say's "we will be there for each other....no matter what". Though time or space or difference of opinion may separate us, the love picks up right where we left off when we are together. That's how we as Christians should be with each other.  You know sometimes, we won't see eye to eye, sometimes one or both of us will be grumpy.........but we are bound in love as the family of the Most High God.......(if you don't feel this way......why not?) We might try to walk away from the "family" but truth is we are still family!!!!!! The Holy Spirit of God lives in all our hearts as Jesus Christ believers.....Christians. Nothing will ever separate us from the love of our Father, and nothing should be big enough to separate us as believers either.  It just shouldn't be......we all have some pretty big things God has had to forgive us  and we've all had some pretty big things done to us th
